Description

Want speed? You want a horse with TAPIT blood, and this filly by ANCHOR DOWN has it. A brilliantly fast, front-running miler son of TAPIT, ANCHOR DOWN ran a near track-record 1:32.90 and posted a 108 Beyer Speed Figure when defeating Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) winner Tamarkuz in the Kelso Handicap (G2). The half-brother to Grade 1 winner SWEET LULU and full brother to Grade 1 performer IRON FIST bears a striking physical resemblance to his three-time champion sire. Now in the breeding shed, ANCHOR DOWN is also off to a fast start: his first crop of two-year-olds sold this spring for up to $270,000 at OBS; his first yearlings sold for up to $250,000 at Keeneland last September; and his first-crop weanlings of 2018 brought up to $125,000.

This sharp filly is out of the money-winning THUNDER GULCH mare KIDDER DONE, who is a daughter of the super race mare KALYPSO KATIE (IRE), a stakes-winning G1 performer on both sides of the Atlantic. KIDDER DONE not only has a consistent production record (from five foals to race, four winners!) but has already produced a stakes horse in Scout’s Honor (by TAPIT). Now, this two-year-old filly replicates that same successful cross with TAPIT’s son ANCHOR DOWN. It’s a winning combination!

And just LOOK at that big walk on her! She may not be the tallest horse in the shedrow, but she’ll outstride and outwork most of them. While she comes across as a super-smart, friendly, easy-to-work-with filly who’s affectionately called “Cupcake” in the barn and loves attention, she turns into a whole different animal who will knock your frosting off on the track, having been clocked as fast as 10.2 and is raring to do more. Prep her to race now or give her some time to grow – either way she’s ready, and when she’s done racing, she’s got the pedigree to become a valuable asset to your broodmare band.
