Getting Started-Listing Your Horse.STARQUINE is an easy to use and inexpensive tool when
selling thoroughbreds. It all begins with listing your horse. You may do that
from any page on our site, by pointing your mouse to the List A Horse button.
You will then select the type of horse you want to list: a weanling,
yearling, racing age, broodmare, or stallion season or share. If you have not already signed in with your email and
STARQUINE password, you will be prompted to do so. If you have never signed
in before, you will be asked to create your profile starting with your email
address and a password you create. You will use this email and password to
sign in to STARQUINE in the future, so select an easy to remember password.
You will then be asked for general contact information, including address and
phone number. Once you have created your profile you will not need to go
through this step again, though you may edit your profile at any time. After you sign in, you will be asked specific information regarding the horse you are listing including: Horse's Name For weanlings, yearlings and racing age, you do not have
to provide a name if the horse is not yet named, but you will need to provide
the sex, complete date of birth , and the names of the sire and dam. For broodmares, you will be asked the mare's status, maiden, barren, or pregnant. For pregnant mares you will need to provide the name of the covering stallion and the last cover date. For all listings you can provide top selling points,
comments and a photograph. To include a photograph send it via email as a jpg
or a gif attachment or in regular mail. We strongly recommend including
photographs with your listings. Once we have all necessary information, we obtain a partially edited catalog style pedigree to 4th dam. At that point your listing is ready to be activated. |
Activating Listing-Fees for Listing. In order to be active in the STARQUINE database, you must
first pay a listing fee. The amount of the fee depends on the asking price
for your horse or in the case of stallions, the number of season or shares
you are offering for sale. When you post your 5th listing within one year, no
matter the type or timing of the listing, the fee for that and all future
listings within the calendar year is reduced by 20%. For large volume
customers we will customize a pricing plan. | ||||||||||||

Interested Buyers-Getting Your Listing Sold.Once activated
several things happen. Most importantly your listing will be viewable on
STARQUINE's online database by buyers from all over the world. Whether
searching our browsing, buyers will have access to all the relevant
information on your horse. In addition your listing will be compared with all
prior saved searches. For all searches that your listing matches, the
buyer(s) who saved the search will receive an Email Alert, which includes the
information on your listing. Your listing will also be published in the
weekly newsletter Thoroughbred Insider as one of STARQUINE's new listings.
For mares we have an independent pedigree expert prepare a nicking report
with recommended breedings. All listed stallion seasons will be included in
the pool of stallions for the recommended breedings. Buyers do not have to sign in to
search the STARQUINE database or to get the information necessary to contact
you. They may view any or all listings as often as they want all at no
charge. Buyers who have interest in your listing are given all the
information necessary to contact you directly. STARQUINE does not get
involved in transactions and does not charge a commission. Listings of weanlings,
yearlings, racing age, and broodmares will remain in the STARQUINE database
for three months from the date of being activated. Should you want to extend
the listing for another three months you may do so for a nominal
documentation fee of $25. This fee is not subject to the 20% discount. Listings of stallion seasons and shares shall remain active from the date listed through the entire breeding season. For individual seasons, we will deactivate them once they are sold and for those representing multiple seasons we will deactivate once the stallion's book is full for the season.
